January 17, 2024 - Among the many faces of philanthropy at Ross Memorial Hospital is Sara Beukeboom, volunteer member of the RMH Foundation’s Board of Directors. With the engagement and support of caring people like Sara, we are advancing care close to home.

“The Ross has been a large part of my family life. I was born in the Ross as were all four of my children. The Ross delivered excellent care to my parents in their times of illness and end of life care. And then the circle continues:  my three-year-old granddaughter was also born at the Ross.”

Sara Beukeboom knows that volunteers make communities better. During the five years she served on the Ross Memorial Hospital Board of Governors, Sara learned about the role of the RMH Foundation, which inspires donor support for patient care priorities and funds medical equipment, technology and capital needs that are not covered through government funding.

Sara joined the Foundation’s Board of Directors in 2020 and became Treasurer in 2022. As Director of Corporate Services for the City of Kawartha Lakes, Sara’s extensive financial expertise, knowledge of the area, and her commitment to community are appreciated.

“As a member of the Foundation Board, I strive to support the hospital as it prepares for exponential growth in our community.  Our work with donors raises the necessary funds to ensure we have the best medical facilities and equipment for our talented physicians and staff to provide exceptional care.”

Sara is excited to be involved as the RMH Foundation supports the transformation of patient care through the largest capital campaign in Ross Memorial’s history. Priority capital projects include the community’s new MRI and CT Scanner; the Clinical Information System that connects bedside tools, imaging and test results to patients’ digital medical records; the expansion and modernization of the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit; and essential equipment such as the new fleet of advanced IV pumps.

When asked what the phrase ‘WE ARE THE ROSS’ means to her, Sara replied:  “To me this means we all play a role in our local hospital … from the doctors, nurses and dedicated staff at the Ross to the community donors and volunteers. As community members it is important to know the challenges and celebrations of the Ross.”
