November 16, 2017 - The team at Kawartha Credit Union’s Lindsay Branch is helping to turn breast cancer stories into Tales of Hope.

Michelle Finley, Kawartha Credit Union’s Lindsay Branch Manager, and Jenn Bianco, Member Service Representative visited RMH to present a cheque for $1,003.45 to Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation. They were joined by Veronica Nelson, who is a Vice President at the Ross Memorial, and Vice Chair of the Kawartha Credit Union Board of Directors.

“The Lindsay branch has been busy at work fundraising to support local breast cancer screening. In the month of October, we held a silent auction as well as donated proceeds from our ongoing book sale we hold in the branch,” said Michelle Finley. “We’re thrilled that these funds will help the Ross Memorial to buy a 3D mammography unit to better serve local patients.” This gift from Kawartha Credit Union is in addition to the $5,000 donation made earlier this year through the KCU Community Involvement Program to help with the purchase of orthopedic surgery tools.

The Tales of Hope Holiday Appeal is being delivered to homes throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes to give everyone an opportunity to give to this important need.

Mammography is the most reliable way to detect breast cancer. Every day at the Ross, our team screens approximately 30 women. 3D imaging, also called tomosynthesis, helps physicians to view the breast in thin sections. It helps to detect small cancers sooner and can pinpoint the exact size and location of a breast lesion.

“This gift from the Kawartha Credit Union puts us one step closer to our Holiday fundraising goal of $170,000.00,” said Erin Coons. “Their team’s dedication to local healthcare is a gift to the entire community.”
