July 17, 2026 - The 152 golfers who arrived at Lindsay Golf & Country Club for the Mariposa Electric Charity Classic on Friday, June 19 came for a day with friends and fun on the links. What they achieved was more than they expected. Through their participation, every golfer helped to enhance patient care in Kawartha Lakes.

For the past four years, the owners of Mariposa Electric have hosted their Charity Classic golf tournament sharing the view that they live local, work local and give back local. This year, the charitable giving generated through the golf tournament benefit patient care needs at Ross Memorial Hospital through the WE ARE THE ROSS capital campaign.

On July 16, Mariposa Electric owners Dylan Brown, Mike Gourlie and Steve Gourlie visited the Ross to present a $15,000 donation to Erin Coons, RMH Foundation CEO.

The owners chose the Ross as their charity partner this year because they wanted to support services that everybody may require. They also wanted to recognize the years of care that Mariposa Electric founding owner, Donnie Brown, received before his passing on July 1.

“Local businesses such as Mariposa Electric make our community stronger in so many ways. The owners’ commitment to local causes is just one example,” said Erin Coons, RMH Foundation CEO. “We are grateful to all of the golfers who took part in the Charity Classic and appreciate the strong connections many of them feel toward the Ross. We are very honoured to receive this generous donation that will touch even more lives in Kawartha Lakes.”
