Victoria County Genealogical Society makes giving its final quest

April 14, 2025 - A local group that dedicated decades researching the area’s past has made a special donation to ensure the community’s care in the future.
The RMH Foundation is honoured to receive a $500 donation from the Victoria County Genealogical Society, which is disbanding.
The gift was presented by Ellen Murray, chair and secretary, and Mary Callaghan, vice chair, to Holly Perrault of the RMH Foundation.
The Victoria County Genealogical Society included more than 50 members who shared a passion for local history. Together they combed archives, and visited museums, libraries and cemeteries to help people learn more about their family stories.
Through their research, they learned about the people behind the documents and census lists.
Their gift to the Ross will help people throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes (formerly Victoria County) now and well into the future by supporting the WE ARE THE ROSS capital campaign priorities. These include the expansion of the Emergency Department and ICU, the community’s new MRI and CT Scanner, as well as critical bedside equipment and technology.
The RMH Foundation is touched to count the Victoria County Genealogical Society among our donor family, and we are honoured to share the story of their giving and impact. The group also made donations to the local museum and library.
