Shoppers Drug Mart 'Tree of Life' supports breast health care at RMH

The team at Shoppers Drug Mart (341 Kent St. West) is dedicated to its patrons and to the community. For several years, the store has promoted the Tree of Life fundraiser in support of breast health care at Ross Memorial Hospital.

The Tree of Life program encourages customers of Shoppers Drug Mart to buy a leaf ($1), a butterfly ($5), an acorn ($10) or a cardinal ($50). The decorations are signed by the donor and posted in the store, and 100% of the proceeds are donated to benefit women’s health.

The owner of Lindsay’s west end Shoppers Drug Mart, Mahvash Moorbakhsh, says she was encouraged to see so many people contributing to the Tree of Life. Members of her family had breast cancer and it’s a cause she cares about deeply.

On February 24th, Mahvash presented a cheque for $1819 to Erin Coons, Executive Director of the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation.

“It’s wonderful to see the Tree of Life grow year after year,” said Coons. “The Shoppers Drug Mart experience shows what caring businesses can accomplish when they involve their customers in philanthropic efforts. Together, their gifts will enhance the care of patients in Ross Memorial’s breast screening program.”
