Therese Scheer and Friends make golf gift on Pink Day
With the Ontario Breast Screening Program’s ‘Just Book It’ Mammography Blitz in the Diagnostic Imaging department, the ‘Bras Around the Building’ in the Gift Shop, and Therese Scheer visiting the hospital with her ‘golf girls’ - it only made sense to declare October 21st Pink Day at the Ross Memorial.
Therese Scheer is on a quest to raise $100,000 for breast health care at RMH in ten years — and she’s well on her way.
Her fundraising activities include ornament sales and coordinating fashion shows, but primarily, it’s the golf tournaments she’s inspired that is driving her total toward goal.
This year, there were seven tournaments held at Sturgeon Point Golf Club, Deer Run Golf Course, Byrnell Golf Club, Western Trent Golf Club, Crestwood Golf Club and Eganridge Golf & Country Club.
On October 21st, Therese, Myrna Sinclair and Alice Greenwood presented a cheque for $11,385.60 to RMH Foundation Executive Director Erin Coons, to be directed to the breast health program at Ross Memorial Hospital. This contribution brings the cumulative total to $85,456.96.
“Therese is a fundraising force,” said Coons. “She shows us all that one person’s passion can make a difference. We’re grateful for her support, and for the golfers who have joined her on this important mission. They’re not just playing golf — they’re playing a role in patient care.”
