Victoria West District Women's Institute shows commitment to the community

They host community dinners and craft sales and they look for ways to help people in their neighbourhoods. Their teams are small, but together, they make big things happen.

Since their inception, Women’s Institutes have focused their efforts to improve the health and safety of their communities.

Today, members of the District WI are showing that “Exceptional Care is In Your Hands” by supporting the RMH Foundation’s Spring Appeal. District WI President Gloria Blodgett, secretary Sharon DuBeau, Public Relations Officer Marilyn Graves and Treasurer Beryl Connell presented a cheque for $500 to RMH Foundation Executive Director Erin Coons. Their gift will support the purchase of a new portable ultrasound for the hospital’s Emergency Department.

With this gift, the group’s cumulative giving to the RMH Foundation has reached $5,150 — earning the Victoria West District Women’s Institute a Supporter plaque on the Donor Recognition Wall.

“The energy these women put into their communities is admirable,” said Coons. “Every time they come together, good things happen around them. And the impact they’ve had on patients at the Ross is visible throughout the hospital. In the Diagnostic Imaging Department and the OR, the Lab, the Dialysis Unit and in Recreation Therapy — wherever there’s a need, the Victoria West District Women’s Institute is there to help.”

The Victoria West District Women’s Institute is comprised of the Cambray, North Emily and Lorneville/Argyle branches of the WI. There are 45 members in total.
