Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls supports community CT Scanner

July 29, 2021 - Since 1944, the Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls has been changing its community and the world for the better through its volunteer service. This year, in addition to its help with the Fenelon Falls COVID-19 vaccination clinics, the Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls is making a gift to help fund the community's new CT Scanner at Ross Memorial Hospital. 

Club members have witnessed the life-saving impact of CT imaging. One of their members attributes being seven years cancer-free to a CT scan that identified bone cancer in 2013. The quick treatment that followed saved his leg - and his life.

Club President Joe Willems and Treasurer Wayne Hutchinson visited the hospital today to present a cheque for $10,000 to Erin Coons, RMH Foundation CEO.

"The Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls has been proud to support the Ross over the years because improving health care impacts everyone," said Joe Willems. "With our aging population, these modern advances allow us to have procedures done close to home instead of having to travel to the city to get things done. We understand the importance of having a modern CT Scanner in our local hospital and we also know it comes at a big cost that isn't funded by the government. Our members want to help because communities improve by working together."

"The Rotary Club of Fenelon Falls is committed to local causes. In fact, with this gift, the Club's total support for the Ross has reached $58,800 - which earns the Club a new place of honour in the Patron level of the Foundation's Donor Recognition Wall," said Erin Coons. "As we continue to fundraise for this life-saving technology, we appreciate the Rotary's generosity and its inspiration to others."

CT imaging is a critical tool for diagnosing injuries and disease, and for guiding surgeries and cancer treatments. At the Ross, the CT team conducts more than 12,000 scans every year.
